Smith Family Mission: Moving To Mexico!

We will be moving to Rosarito, Mexico (30 mins south of San Diego) this summer to do missionary work in the Rosarito area.  God began working in our hearts regarding this area of Mexico last summer when Aaron (Ron) led a group of 18 people from Harbor Calvary Chapel in Aberdeen, Wa on a short term mission trip to Rosartio.  It was on that trip that God began to knit our hearts together with Buena Vita orphanage in La Mision.  Gabriel and Meche Diego provide a very loving christian environment for the 29 children who call Buena Vita orphanage their home. They have 16 months left on their current lease and after that they will need to relocate due to not being able to renew their lease.  They have secured a very small piece of land (20m x 20m) upon which they will need to build a new home in the next 16 months.  Unfortunately, it will provide less space than their current location (which is small) and no outdoor area for the children to run and play.  They are praying for God to provide the resources needed to purchase a larger price of land upon which they hope to build a larger orphanage that would allow them to care for up to 50 kids  as the need is very great in Mexico.  We will be working closely with Gabriel and Meche and the children of Buena Vita and are hoping to facilitate mission building construction teams to come down from the U.S. to help meet their 16 month deadline.  There is no government funding in Mexico for these orphans so they rely completely on the Lord to provide for their needs.  Philippians 4:19- and my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus

Psalm 68:5- a father of the fatherless, a defender of the widows, is God in His holy habitatio

We will also be serving along side Victor and Sonja Mayoral of Sojourners Missions.  They have been serving in the Rosarito area of Mexico for the past 16 years organizing local outreaches to share the gospel of Jesus Christ, feeding the hungry, and facilitating construction projects for the poor(many of our pets in America have much nicer living quarters than the poor in Rosarito).  Victor and Sonja are able to host groups up to 35 at Sojourners Mission camp located just south of Rosarito in Primo Tapia.

While serving in Mexico, Aaron (Ron) will also be attending the mens school of Ministry at Calvary Chapel Rosarito, a 16 month intensive discipleship program focused on preparing pastor teachers in all areas of ministry and church planting.  He will be on staff (volunteer) at Calvary Chapel Rosarito as a missionary serving and teaching at the church.

As a family, we are already working on learning spanish so we can communicate and minister the Word of God effectively.  I (Robbyn) am exited to put my 10 years of classroom spanish to use!  On our trip down this past March I was encouraged as I was able to carry on conversations with the children at Buena Vita and they were eager to help me learn!  At this time we are asking that you keep us in your prayers as we prepare to follow the Lords leading for our family to relocate to Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico.

Prayer requests

  • God to provide a safe home for us to live in that will accommodate

friends and family who would like to come and visit and serve in Rosarito

  • For people who have building skills and resources to come help build a new facility for Buena Vita orphanage
  • For our family to learn spanish quickly
